DOWNLOAD: SQUAWKIN’ IN A WINTER WONDERLAND
The days are getting shorter. The temps are dropping. People are beating the shit out of each other to get whatever this year’s “it” Christmas present is (I assume an iPad…or a Tickle-Me Slouch doll). In other words…it’s Winter.
For Aleheads, Winter truly is the most magical time of year. The beers get darker, stronger and maltier. The package store shelves are dotted with Russian Imperial Stouts, Quads and Scotch Ales. It’s a veritable smörgåsbord of boozy goodness. But which styles are best for the frigid days of Winter? The Aleheads decided that a Maltercation was the only way to properly answer that question.
Before you subject your ears to the abomination that is this Podcast, a couple caveats:
- The Maltercation is loosely based on a poll that Doc put up a few weeks ago. It can be found here.
- I took longer than usual to edit this sucker, because it was a goddamn train wreck. Slouch Sixpack got hammered before it began and went on a number of tirades so inflammatory that they couldn’t even be included on a poorly written beer blog read mostly by our friends. To give you an idea of what kind of challenge I faced, the original recording was nearly two hours long. The final edit is about 45 minutes. I can’t promise you that it’s a quality 45 minutes, but at least it’s free of material that will prevent any of us from running for office in the future.
Enjoy.
