NOTES: Draft @ J. Clyde in Birmingham
STYLE: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
ABV: 10.25%
APPEARANCE: Cloudy, dark chestnut
HEAD: Big, off-white, fluffy, slow to dissolve
LACING: Sticky and profound
NOSE: Dead-on BSDA aroma. Clove, cinnamon, and pepper up front followed by the satisfying scent of raisins, plums, figs, and dark cherries. A touch of noseburn from the alcohol keeps the brew honest.
TASTE: Perfect level of sweetness at the beginning of the sip…enough to do justice to the style, but not enough to rot your teeth. A touch of sourness, vinous tartness, and lots of bold fruity esters in the middle. The finish is spice and boozy bitterness.
MOUTHFEEL: Silky-smooth and lush…excellent carbonation keeps it from being too heavy, but it’s definitely a full-bodied brew.
DRINKABILITY: One of Good People’s best brews. Highly drinkable for the style. I could knock these back all night if the 10+ ABV didn’t knock me back first.
RATING: 3.5 Hops
